february Julep Maven Box

20120210-163630.jpgHi friend!

Here’s what I received from Julep Maven:

1. Rachel – a warm rich copper shimmer

2. Oscar – a multidimensional gold glitter

3. Elizabeth – midnight blue with a hint of shimmer

4. Treat – an Oscar shaped unsweetened dark chocolate which I devoured upon opening of the box.

Not very happy with this box. The only thing I really like is the gold glitter polish. I contacted them about it and was told that the window to changing my box had past. They don’t have the option to return the box either so I decided to just cancel my subscription. I think that’s the flaw about this program. If I’m paying for $20 for these nail polishes I should be able to return them. This isn’t like the other sample program boxes.

infinity rings

Hi friend!

I have been drooling over this ring lately. It’s made to be worn right before your knuckle.

It’s lovely but with a hefty price tag of $180! No thanks. I know I can find a much cheaper alternative.

And I did! They are made by Indulgent Design – link!  However, she doesn’t make them in rose gold which is okay because the silver matches my wedding ring. In addition, I found the heart infinity ring for the same price of $21 and it’s as lovely.

Oh how I love dainty accesories. It’s a great gift, well for me anyway.

What kind of jewelry that brings you over the moon?

february photo-a-day challenge: days 1-3

Hi friend!

I decided that I’d post a round-up of my photo-a-day challenge on Fridays. The reason? Just felt like it – nothing special. Lol

//from left to right

day 1: your view – my babies are playing, obviously hehe

day 2: words – The quote says, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart” written by Helen Keller. I ripped it out of  the February Woman’s Day magazine.

day 3: hands – I wanted to take a photo of my babies’ hands because they won’t be small for long. They grow up so fast.

I am planning on getting the diaper deal at Target tomorrow, Saturday, and hoping to walk at the flea market if the temperature permits. My son is turning 1 year old in 2 weeks and we are planning to have a party for him. So, I’d like to also take a pre-birthday photo this weekend but there are so many things that need to be done that it might get pushed for next weekend.

What are your plans this weekend? Well, whatever it is I hope that you have a great one!

babyganics soap

Hi friend!

I have two words to describe this product: EXTREMELY DRYING!

So, if your baby has eczema then this is not the product you want. I wouldn’t recommend this even if my baby didn’t suffer from eczema. I love that  this soap doesn’t have the harsh chemicals but I wish that they added some type of natural oil or something that moisturizes the skin.

What organic/natural body wash or body soap do you use for your little one?

bloom!

20120114-143214.jpg

Hi friend!

Several weeks ago Plum District had a 50% off offer for Bloom. I was able to snag a $50 voucher for about $18. Bloom is like a smaller Sephora. They offer 10% credit back called bloom dollars with every purchase, whereas Sephora offers points for redeeming samples and deluxe kits.  They are currently offering a limited number of beauty brands in their website. I purchased the voucher because I have been eyeing and wanting to try the Ole Henriksen anti-aging eye creme which retails for $45.

Now onto the Bloom website quick review:

1. It took about 2 weeks for my package to arrive.
2. I still have not received my bloom dollars since ordering.
3. I appreciate the effort put into my package. Everything was wrapped in pink tissue paper and the eye creme was bubbled-wrapped.
4. The samples that I picked and received are perfect because they are from the Ole Henriksen range. Perhaps the website is scripted to offer samples of products I viewed or placed in my shopping cart? Perhaps.
5. Shipping is FREE for orders $50 and above. I wish it’s free shippig for any order.
6. Return is free as well, however, unlike Sephora, my order did not come with any invoice and shipping label. This does not make it easy to return products.

Besides the 3 complaints mentioned above, namely points 1,2 and 6, I am quite happy with my purchase. I am planning on purchasing the Clarisonic Mia as I still have another $50 voucher. I probably will not purchase from this website again had I not have another voucher. This is mainly because of the point stated in 6. Sephora just makes it so easy plus I can just go to any store and make a return or exchange.

Here is another picture of the box and the products I purchased:

What eye cream are you currently using?

au naturel…

…well, more like organic, natural products. i honestly just wanted a catchy title. epic fail.

Hi friend!

a back story:

it all started when my sister came to visit for thanksgiving. upon her arrival the first thing i noticed was her shiny, healthy-looking hair! let’s ignore the fact that she  lost some weight! apparently, she had been running and eating healthy ie. avoided sweets and fatty foods. her hair looked amazing, so i asked her to spill the beans. her new secret: organix moroccan oil conditioner, an organic, sulfate free product. i had to get/try it as my hair has been looking like a dreadful mess lately. it just so happened that the organix line was on sale on thanksgiving week at cvs. it was part of buy $30 get $10 gift card. long story short,  my sister and i were able to snag 4 conditioners, 1 hair treatmeant, 3 shampoos for a total of $30 out of pocket. each bottle cost about $8.xx. however, we also received a total of $20 in gift cards and $5 ecb from being a part of beauty club. in essence, we paid about a mere $5 for 8 organix items! we were excited!

i experienced no epiphany during that time obviously but i have been looking/researching into using natural, organic products for a while now. that incident merely was the first step, a push if you will.

and so my path to using natural, organic products begins…

surely, it will not be a sudden, dramatic 360 change!  it will take some time. my first priority is baby products.

what natural products have you discovered that you like for yourself and/or babies?

a wish list

Hi friend!

i told mr. s that i didn’t want to exhange xmas lists this year (2011) because i just wanted to focus on our babies. okay, that was somewhat of a lie. i did want a love letter from him (cue evil but cute face here). there wasn’t anything that i needed or badly wanted. however, a girl always has some kind of a wish list. or am i the only one? i don’t need any of these things but having a list comes in handy especially if there are massive sales that come by once in a while! we have to be ready! lol

1. house of harlow 1960 leather station necklace  i purchased an inspired version of this necklace from gofavor.com. interestingly, it looked the same and felt quite substantial. much to my despair the metal oxidized after just one wear. then, my 2 year old got her hands on them and broke it. i don’t like spending a lot on trendy jewelry but i really like this and it isn’t too much pricewise. i’d love this in the light color as well!

2. house of harlow 1960 antler ring gorgeous! enough said.

3. nars danmari blush palette i love nars! this one is a necessity! it’s sold out everywhere, unfortunately.

4. miu miu vitello lux in light pink i’d love this one in the brown/cognac color as well! but i’m thinking it will remain in my wishlist for a long, long time!

5. madewell boots in english saddle the one pair i’ve been looking for!

6. tory burch reva leather flats with gold detail i’ve been a heels kind of girl but flats make things easier and safer especially when toting babies! i’ve heard all but rave reviews about these flats!

what products/items are you currently coveting?

rite aid trip week 01.08 – 01.14.2012

Hi friend!

i was in desperate need of skincare products, so to rite aid i went.

purchased:
7.99  aveeno foaming cleanser
15.99  aveeno clear complexion daily moisturizer
5.99  aveeno daily moisturizing body lotion
——-
29.97 (the aveeno was buy 1 get 1 50% off, the body lotion is 11.99)

coupons used:
4.00 (2) $2 aveeno skincare q
1.00 (1) aveeno q
——-
5.00

total: 24.97 + 2.40  (tax)
oop: 27.37
+up rewards received: $10

so in essence i paid $17.37 for the 3 products which is not bad at all considering the facial moisturizer is $15.99. it’s seldom that aveeno goes on sale and i NEEDED them!

now onto the quick reviews:

aveeno daily moisturizing body lotion – one word: love! leaves my skin soft a lot longer than any other body lotions i’ve tried. it’s not greasy, though it takes just a little extra time to absorb. my skin, mainly my legs, are sensitive and get very itchy most specially during winter months. from my experience, this lotion helps the itchiness as well as prevents it.

aveeno foaming cleanser – cleans without stripping the skin. mr.s likes this too and he’s very picky when it comes to cleansers. my sister has been using this product for 2 years now and swears by it. my brother also uses this product and it has cleared his acne prone skin.

aveeno clear complexion facial moisturizer – it’s a light daily moisturizer that leaves the skin soft. however, it’s not creamy or moisturizing enough for my dry spots (eczema spots on my face). i have to use my aquaphor for that. still, my face is now doing much better than before. we’ll see how it goes in a month or so.

the cleanser and the facial moisturizer claim that they even out skin tone and prevent breakouts. so far i have seen that my skin had evened out a bit and the redness diminished. the key ingredient for both products is salicylic acid. it’s a plant based compound that helps treat acne. i had a cystic pimple on my chin and it lasted for a day! without using these two products, the annoying zits would have lasted for several days or even a week.

What is your skincare routine? What are your favorite products?
